Last weekend marked our first visit to KC Farm School at Gibbs Road. Boy do we love this place. We were first introduced to it last summer by our Aunt Erin. She knows about all the good things.
Their Mission is as follows: KC Farm School at Gibbs Road empowers individuals of all ages, ancestries, and abilities through on-farm, hands-on experiences and vocational education connecting them to the land and soil, food, community, and opportunity.
The temps were mild, the humidity respectable. The bright blue sky was soon covered with a thick blanket of clouds which kept us cool for all the work that had to be done.
The kids worked together and when someone got wiggly or bored they were free to go swing, pet the cat, or play on the compost pile.
Jasper (in blue) is nothing if not a rule follower (unless those rules are being enforced by a parent obviously). He listened intently as Farmer Janelle showed everyone how to plant Summer Savory.
I’m so happy we are out of soccer season and into Farm School season! I can’t think of a better way to spend a summer Saturday morning. Do yourself a favor and visit the KC Farm School website. They have all sort of wonderful opportunities for curious folks of all ages!
LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!
Beautiful sketches, Elizabeth! Thanks for using the #SubstackSky hashtag over on Bluesky; that's how I came across this post.
